Cameroonian French texts can be a lot of fun to translate. They’re a mixture of African, English, and French words, and the sentence structure is more rhythmic than your standard French. It makes for an interesting change from typical French>English translation projects.
I’m by no means an expert, so I won’t say much more about camfranglais. But I will share a few resources for understanding the French from Cameroon:
- Another camfranglais glossary (en français)
- An introduction to Cameroon Pidgin (PDF) (This helps with the English pidgin in Cameroon, not French, but it was too interesting not to include!)
